– In all cases, the damaged vehicle must be presented for inspection at the insurer’s claims settlement center within 3 days.
Do not repair the vehicle before the inspection!
In the event of a claim, take all possible measures to minimize the damage. Always provide accurate and truthful information when declaring circumstances during the insurance policy agreement or ask for advice if you are unsure how to respond.
Required Documents for Filing a Claim:
The insured or their authorized representative must provide:
– The insurance policy, including all issued endorsements and attachments.
– The driver’s license of the person operating the vehicle at the time of the incident.
– A completed insurance compensation claim form (as per the insurer’s template).
Below, you will find more detailed instructions based on the type of incident you have experienced.
Do not clear the consequences of the event until an inspection has been carried out by the insurer and the relevant authority. However, you must take necessary actions to limit the damage if possible (for example, attempting to extinguish a fire before the fire department arrives).
It is advisable to keep purchase documents and warranty cards for insured movable property, such as audio and visual equipment and household appliances.
Monitor what is recorded in the inspection report and keep copies of all documents provided to the insurer.
- If you do not have Casco insurance and are involved in an accident where you are not at fault, make sure to collect information about the liability insurance (Third-Party Insurance) of the at-fault driver in order to notify their insurer and file a compensation claim.
In Case of a Traffic Accident (Road Incident):
- Immediately notify the Traffic Police (KAT) at 166 or 112 and request their presence at the scene.
- KAT must visit the accident site and issue a report if:
- There are injured persons
- There are material damages and the vehicle cannot move on its own
- One of the involved vehicles has a foreign registration or is transporting hazardous materials
- The accident has caused traffic congestion
- There is suspicion that a participant is under the influence of alcohol or drugs or does not have the required driving license
- If KAT refuses to come, immediately contact your Casco insurer and request them to send a mobile inspection unit.
- If you cannot reach your insurer, fill out the bilateral accident report and register it by calling 166.
In Case of a Vehicle Fire:
- Immediately call the fire department and obtain an official report of the incident.
In Case of a Natural Disaster:
- For events such as heavy rain, snowfall, floods, or hail, contact the local meteorological service to obtain an official certificate specifying the date, type, and duration of the disaster.
Filing a Compensation Claim:
- Keep copies of all documents submitted to your insurer and ensure that all damages are accurately recorded in the inspection report.
- Do not repair the vehicle before the insurer has conducted an inspection and follow their instructions if an additional inspection is required.
- Within 24 hours, submit a written notification to your Casco insurer and keep a copy of the notification.
- Keep a copy of your insurance policy and general terms, as the insurer will require the original, along with all other documents you provide.
- Always submit the requested documents to the insurer with an inventory list or cover letter, and obtain an incoming reference number and date from the insurer.
Minimum Required Documents for the Insurer:
- Original insurance policy
- Vehicle registration certificate (both the small and large registration documents)
- Official report from the local Police Department where you reported the theft
- Prosecutor’s ruling on the suspension of pre-trial proceedings if the vehicle is not recovered
- All keys and remote controls for the vehicle, including spare sets
Always ensure that the information you provide in your claim notification to the insurer matches the details declared to the Police Department regarding the theft.
- Request and keep complete medical documentation of the event and any expenses incurred for your treatment if you need to pay for them.
